From a Team of 3 to 40: Blue Tees Golf’s Remarkable Growth Journey

Blue Tees Golf started out like many others: with a passion and a product with potential. The brand’s founders, with backgrounds in industrial design, ecommerce, business development, and finance set out to create a high quality, yet affordable rangefinder with a southern California style, that would give the modern golfer what they need on the course. Six months later, the first rangefinder was launched, and the ecommerce brand quickly took off.

The success story did not stop there. The company’s strong marketing led to several retailers quickly taking notice of the new golf brand, leading to accelerated growth. Positive headwinds of the pandemic drove a surge of demand for outdoor activities where people can socially distance with friends.

However, the monies needed to fund both inventory production and accounts receivable was outside of the capital Blue Tees Golf had on hand. Given it had only been around for only a year at the time, it was virtually impossible to find a bank that would provide a traditional line of credit. Scaling a business is quite the challenge, and capital restraints often hinder sustainable growth.

Assembled Brands swiftly recognized the brands potential, and used its expertise of working with golf direct-to-consumer brands to tailor a capital solution to Blue Tees Golf’s specific needs.

“Assembled Brands both understood our direct-to-consumer business while offering the perfect blend of working capital financing that was needed to scale the business into retail in 2021,” said Chris Markham from Blue Tees early on in our partnership.

So where is Blue Tees Golf now, in 2023?

The brand has grown tremendously over the last few years. Blue Tees Golf started with 3 founders, but that number rapidly rose to over 40 team members during the first 24 months of our partnership as the business grew.

Since then, Blue Tees Golf has gone on to introduce an entire family of products, including new rangefinders and golf accessories, attracting an abundance of loyal golf enthusiasts. Between 2020 and 2021 alone, the brand saw growth in the double digits. It has furthermore expanded its operations and partnered with companies such as TaylorMade, Troon and Invited, creating unforgettable experiences for golf enthusiasts around the country.

Our partnership began with a loan solely based on accounts receivable, but due to the brand’s tremendous growth, have since expanded to include inventory including Amazon FBA and in-transit, as well as purchase order financing.

Major national retailers such as Dick’s Sporting Goods and PGA Superstore have adopted the brand’s products along with over 1,600 regional pro shops, getting the brand’s revolutionary products into the hands of more consumers. The company also significantly increased its store count since we kicked off our partnership, and now operates in over 3,000 doors.

What makes Blue Tees Golf stand out are its differentiated designs and styles of its rangefinder lineup. With next generation slope technology, cutting-edge modern design and more, Blue Tees Golf’s products, such as the Series 3 Max rangefinder, are designed for the modern golfer.

The “Modern Golfer” is not a monolithic group, but rather a shift in ideology to make golf cool for everyone. While golf has always been a traditional sport, there is a new wave of golfers who want to bend the rules of tradition and bring their own personal style and identity to the sport.
